Your Perfect Soul Mate

God brought into existence the first spiritual man and woman about six thousand years ago; Adam and Eve. Soon after they were established in God’s Paradise on Earth, they who had everything, betrayed their family bond with God and had spiritual intercourse with Satan. They had been created totally beautiful, lovely and pure before God and before the angels. They had been created actual most-loved children of Almighty God. Nothing in all of God’s creation was their equal. They were not like the angels in heaven, for they were brought into existence from God’s very own self. Literally God took from himself and he took that self-piece and placed it within the animal body that he had made for that purpose.

Man is not an animal. Man is a God-spirit being that has been temporarily placed into the body of an animal. This distinction that I am making here is of supreme importance. Unless you understand the significance of what I am saying the Bible will not make proper sense to you. Let me see if I can put this into perspective. Imagine if you will that your animal life span is represented by a single grain of sand, then consider that your God-like spiritual self life span is represented by the entire earth, and even more! Your flesh might live for a hundred years or so, but your spirit is eternal—it, like God, exists forever. That is what the Bible is talking about!

Adam and Eve were in the Garden of God and they had everything. They had an eternal relationship with God. Let us do a bit more imagining. Imagine being married to the absolutely good and perfect husband, who loved you with a love that fills the universe. Your all-loving husband has the power to keep you totally safe and is so eager to share with you every wonderful thing—things beyond your ability to even conceive of. God is totally good, totally honest, full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Like I said, the perfect husband.

When God made man he took from his own self and made him. Adam was so totally capable of being like God and having the capacity of returning to God all of the same qualities and appreciating those qualities in God. Man was made for God and God is perfect for man. Talk about your soul mate! Every human is a split-apart soul from God himself—a potential soulmate.

Man was brought into existence for this very purpose. We don’t even need to imagine this, it is true. Adam was a symbol of God and his wife was taken from his side and formed up just for him. Eve represents mankind, taken from within God and formed up perfect for God. That is the meaning of the passages in Genesis chapter two.

But, the woman, who stood in for all mankind, listened to the Deceiver and put her faith in his words over the words of her husband. In doing this she committed spiritual adultery against her husband, that is, God. Now, I need for you to imagine again. Imagine you are a virgin woman that is pure as snow is white. You are loving and kind and have all of the spiritual qualities of God himself (Gal 5:22-23). You are blissfully and trustfully and faithfully married to your husband who has all of the same qualities as you. You are two perfect and holy soulmates—two split-aparts that are united together in perfect love. Have you imagined that? Now, you break the loving trust you have with your husband and believe in the promises of another man over your own husband. We are talking spiritual unfaithfulness here, not of the flesh but of the spirit. It is the same as the physical sleeping with a person that is not your love-sole-mate, but spiritual rather than physical. The woman desired to be like Satan rather than like God. She wanted to be like God in her own right, and not through a marriage union. In a way she told God (by her actions) that I don’t need you, I can be like you on my own! That is what her actions said.

I don’t want you to misunderstand what I am saying here. I am not saying that the Bible puts the blame of the fall of man on women. The woman in this story is in fact a woman, and she did in fact do what I said, but she is also, and more importantly, a symbolic representation of mankind. Man committed spiritual adultery against God in the Garden of Eden. To blame women and think that women are somehow inferior to men is wrong thinking. Which man in the world has not committed sin against God? Not one! The Bible is talking about the fall of man, how it happened and what it means.

So, man wanted to be his own man. He wanted to be judged by his own goodness. He wanted to be justified by his own merits. By wanting these things and acting on them he broke the faith bond with God. You can understand this if you think of human marriage. If a wife says to her husband that she doesn’t need his name, she is woman let her roar! And sets out on her own to prove herself. She has broken the marriage vow that she had with her husband. And if she then unites herself with another man who is also independent minded then her rebellion is complete. She is a faith breaker. She has committed adultery.  How can she restore the perfect faith with her first husband that she once had? She cannot. It is impossible.

But, if her husband should say to her that if she would leave the relationship with her adulterous partner and live holy and pure for a time that he would take her back again as his wife. Then she has a decision to make. She must remain faithful to her husband so long as she remains in the flesh. I say she here, but I am talking about mankind and not just women. This is the promise that God made to them in the Garden after the fall. It is a bit difficult to see, but it is nonetheless there if you have the wisdom to read between the lines. After God told them this … “Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living. 21 The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.”  Genesis 3:20-21 (NIV84)

My friend, being faithful to God is everything. It is everything because your life in the flesh is only a grain of sand compared to the whole earth and beyond. The world is a place where God for the most part is not. The earth is filled with pain and suffering because of its separation from God. God has allowed us to remain alive here on this fallen earth so that we can see and understand what life separated from God is like. If you would rather be reunited to the Holy God then forsake your rebellion and seek to live in the hope of the promise of God. Live by holy faith.
