For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. (NIV84)
The Bible is a living being. That statement defies our natural reason. It’s a book, with words printed on pages. How can it be alive? The Bible is always right in what it says, and if you have trouble seeing how something can be true, then step back and look at how can it be true. We know that the Word of God is alive because the Bible says so, right there in [Hebrews 4:12]. So what does it mean? What about the Bible is alive? Not the pages, nor the binding, nor the ink, it is the invisible Spirit within the words that is alive. God himself is invisible to us, and so is his living Spirit that exists dormant in the Bible’s words. A seed doesn’t appear to be alive, but plant it in fertile soil and water it and watch is sprout into obvious life.
He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. 27 Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. 28 All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. 29 As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.” (NIV84)
God is alive. God is active in insuring that his word will accomplish what it says it will do. All of the power of Almighty God stands behind each and every word of the Bible and so the Bible cannot fail.
The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.” (NIV84)
Also, take a look at the following Scripture.
As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. (NIV84)
The Bible is supernatural, that is, it is not static, but rather alive with the spiritual power of God. The Bible has the power to raise a dead person to life. The Bible has that power. How does the Bible have that power, you might ask? The Bible’s power is activated by faith; faith in his Word. When you plant the Word of God into your spiritual mind, that is, your heart, in faith, then all of the power of God energizes that Word in you and it blossoms into what it was intended to do.
You don’t need to know how it works any more than you need to know how a planted seed can grow when planted in the soil. God is the author of life and he makes it happen. You must read the Bible in faith expecting God to make it grow. You must open your eyes and open your ears and look into the Holy Word for meaning and understanding. Divine revelation must come to you personally. It is not good enough to trust in the knowledge that your pastor imparts. You must know. You must know independently from your pastor. The Word of God must be planted into your heart by the Spirit of God and then when mixed with your faith that implanted Word will grow and you will reap the harvest.
Through most of the Dark Ages the Word of God was withheld from the people. The so-called-church actually made it a capital offense to own a private copy of God’s Word. Insanity! The so-called message-of-God was delivered to the people in a dead language, which they didn’t understand. Insanity! You can’t plant something dead and expect life, that’s just crazy!
People protested this insanity and broke away from the dead church in search of the Living Word. They made copies of the Living Word for themselves and read the Word and mixed the words with Faith and came alive! Wonderment! Wonderment and Joy!
But, something happened. Those that were reading their Bible’s in faith were not able to pass their living relationship down to the next generation, and so the next generation became frozen in time. The Living word to them became Doctrine, it became tradition, it became, “this is what “we” believe.” Who cares what “we” believe, what do you believe? What do you, personally, see in the Scriptures? If the living Word is not alive within you then you are dead, and what you believe is not the living Word.
Every denomination that I observe is frozen in time. Look at the Lutherans. Have they changed in the last 400 years? Has their understanding of the Scriptures blossomed more and more each year? Look at the Amish. Have they continued to grow? What about the Episcopalians? The Pentecostals? The Any-ones? Frozen! ‘Frozen in time.’
Look at Moses and the Israelites.
Moses had a living relationship with God because he mixed God’s Words with faith. But, look at what the people said…
When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance 19 and said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die.” 20 Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.” 21 The people remained at a distance, while Moses approached the thick darkness where God was. (NIV84)
The people were afraid of God, consumed by unbelief, and did not want to personally know him. They told Moses to go and meet with God and relay his message to them. This is where the Law, a list of ordnances originated! You cannot follow the Law and be saved. You cannot follow Doctrine and be saved either. You must, personally, have living relationship with God by faith. You must plant the Word of God into your heart and mix it with faith, and then God will cause it to grow; then your “doctrine” will not remain static, but will become a living thing. You will grow in your understanding as the Spirit of Wisdom gives you revelation in His Word.
God is all powerful, and his word is all powerful too, but because of the lack of faith the so called “Christian community” has not conquered anything at all in recent years. It is withering on the vine—literally. Most “successful” churches are nothing more than self-actuation seminars. Large assemblies of selfish people! Where is the revelation of God’s Word? Where is the growth of true biblical understanding? Where is the performance of the Word touching and affecting the society for the glory of God?
Someone like me comes along and is branded an evil man because I will not agree with church doctrine. I am feared and shunned because I want a living relationship with the All Mighty; to be rooted and grounded the Christ Jesus and to know the depth of his great love for me! And to abide in my Lord in revelation, in the spirit of wisdom to fulfill the Lord’s divine purpose for my life In the transformation of my life by the word of Christ Jesus, to his glory. So be it. I have no desire to be frozen at any point in my physical life. I want to grow and grow and grow! I want each and every word to blossom into life and understanding within me. I want to grow until the day that I depart this body.
