For the last two posts, I have been pointing out some interesting things about the Woman sign of Revelation twelve. Let us recap what we know so far.
- She represents a human group – female
- Consists of twelve subgroups – twelve stars
- Is very devout and has God’s approval
- Gives birth to Jesus
- Remains on earth during the Great Tribulation, but is protected
- Has relatives that are not so protected that also remain during the Great Tribulation
- An army from Satan/Beast-man tries to kill the protected human group
- Was on the earth at the birth of Christ and during Daniel’s 70th week
“His [Antichrist/beast-man] armed forces will rise up to desecrate the temple fortress and will abolish the daily sacrifice. Then they will set up the abomination that causes desolation. (NIV)
Here is that very important sign that marks the beginning of the time of Wrath, that is, the time of the start of the Beast. We see here that the Antichrist/Beast-man’s army is there in Jerusalem and acts as the power to force his will. Remember that Satan through his Antichrist/Beast-man tries to swallow up the woman with a river? which represents an army. Remember too that the Two Witnesses are in Jerusalem at that exact time. They are Christian prophets that have been preaching that Jesus is the Christ and the Woman is there too and she has been hearing their words. Let us make another list of things that we know concerning the exact time of the abomination that causes desolation sign.
- The army of the Antichrist is in Jerusalem
- The Two Witnesses are there
- The devout of Israel are there (the Woman)
- The Antichrist is killed (appears)
- The Two Witnesses are killed there
- There is a Temple in Jerusalem
- The Antichrist hates the Two Witnesses
- The Two Witnesses are Christians (that are taken in the Rapture)
- The people represented by the Woman are devout but are not Christians (not taken)
Now, I am not sure of the exact scenario yet, but let us put this together to see if it all fits together. First, the devout Jews are in Jerusalem (twelve tribes represented) (strangely not Dan, but Joseph and his son Manasseh are there making twelve). The Two Witnesses are there too and they are preaching Jesus crucified and risen. The Antichrist with his armed forces arrives. The Antichrist is ‘killed’ but then ‘comes back to life’ and he claims to be the Christ, that is, the one that was, then was dead, then was alive again. The spirit that re-inhabits the Antichrist’s body is the man that has been held in Hell for more than two thousand years. This man is now called the Beast. He then kills the Two Witnesses claiming that they are wrong about Jesus being the Christ because he is now claiming that he (the Beast) is the Christ. The Antichrist’s forces enter into the Temple and set up an image of the Beast-man. The bodies of the Two Witnesses lay exposed on the ground for three and a half days, but then the Rapture occurs and is seen by the whole world on TV.
Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them. 8 Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. 9 For three and a half days men from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. 10 The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.
11 But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. 12 Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on. (NIV)
Do you see what verse 9 says? “Men from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies…” This sounds like satellite television. Verse 8 shows us that the Two Witnesses are Christians because it says that Jesus was their Lord. Look at the wording in verse 12, ‘… they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.”
1 Thessalonians 4:16
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. (NIV)
Speaking of the Rapture the above passage says that the Rapture is started with a loud voice from heaven. The Two Witnesses are Raptured on world-wide live TV along with every other Christian in the world! This validation of the Two Witnesses words enrages the Beast-man and he then tries to kill all of the covenant people starting with the most devout who are in Jerusalem right at that time (the Woman). But God protects these devout believers by swallowing up the Beast’s army that is with him in Jerusalem, with an earthquake. This really makes the Beast angry and he storms off in a rage to kill any covenant people anywhere that he can find!
